Delta Dental Foundation Contributes To Cincinnati Center For Children’s Dentistry

$4,400 grant will provide dental treatment to low-income children in Hamilton County

OKEMOS, Mich., (May 15, 2007) – The Delta Dental Foundation (DDF), the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana (Delta Dental), recently donated $4,400 to the Cincinnati Center for Children’s Dentistry, an entity of the Cincinnati Dental Society. Nancy Hostetler, senior vice president of the DDF, made the announcement.

The grant will be used to fund a program titled Dental Care: Providing Access to Underserved Children. This program will provide desperately needed access to dental services to low-income children, and will ultimately reduce the number of school hours missed due to dental-related illnesses. The target population is families with children between the ages of three and 18 who lack access to timely, affordable dental care. The goal of the program is to improve health by providing dental education and preventive and restorative services to children in southwest Ohio. The entire grant from the DDF will be used for dental supplies and educational materials.

“We are proud that our donation to the Cincinnati Center for Children’s Dentistry will allow the children needing dental care in southwest Ohio to receive treatment in a caring and professional environment,” said Hostetler. “Given the strong connection between oral health and overall health, our investment in this project will enhance general health and well-being of the many children who frequent the center.”

According to Victoria Nixon, executive director of the Cincinnati Dental Society, volunteer dentists, hygienists and assistants will provide care to 300 low-income children in 2007 through this program and the Cincinnati Center for Children’s Dentistry.

“These volunteers will provide much-needed free dental care, including restorations and extractions, to underprivileged children from families that qualify for the program,” said Nixon. “We are so proud of this program, and appreciate the Delta Dental Foundation’s support to assist us in the operation of the center.”
